The bust of the first cosmonaut opened in Slovenia

The International Charity Public Fund "Dialogue of Cultures - United World" has donated the bronze bust of the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin to the people of Vitania (Slovenia). The monument has been installed in the Cultural Center of European Space Technologies. The solemn ceremony took place on April 11, 2017, on the eve of the Space Exploration Day.

Honorable guests of the opening ceremony were Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Slovenia Doku Zavgaev, Chairman of the State Council of Slovenia Mitya Bervar, Mayor of the Municipality of Vitanya Mirko Polutnik and Governor of the Vladimir region (the Russian Federation) Svetlana Orlova.

«Yuri Gagarin, his name and feat will serve as an example for next generations, who will create the future of high technology, explore the Universe and promote cooperation between our countries, "- said Russian Air Force Colonel and test cosmonaut at the Yuri A. Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center Valery Tokarev.

The first woman in space Valentina Tereshkova also addressed the guests of the ceremony,-

"Dear Slovenian friends, let me congratulate you on the remarkable day in the history of the Russian-Slovenian relations! For the first time in the history of the Slovenian state, we are opening the monument to the legendary man, the first cosmonaut of the Earth, the heritage of the mankind, Yuri Gagarin.

The bust of Yuri Gagarin in Vitania is the 17th sculpture installed with the assistance of the Fund «Dialogue of Cultures - United World».

Earlier, the monuments to the first cosmonaut had been opened in Germany, France, Hungary, Czech Republic, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Croatia, Serbia, Greece, Italy and Bulgaria.

The Fund «Dialogue of Cultures - United World» works to develop friendly relations between countries. Nowadays the international activity of the Fund includes 50 countries, where it has realized around 500 projects. One of the most remarkable projects of the Fund is the Cultural and Educational Center "ETNOMIR".
