On October 17, 2021, in a solemn ceremony on the territory of the Tagos Park technological park in Oeiras (Greater Lisbon), a pedestal with a bronze bust of the legendary Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first man on Earth, who flew beyond the Earth’s atmosphere 60 years ago, was unveiled.

The event was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Portugal Mikhail Kamynin, the leadership of the mayor's office of Oeiras, the Tagus Park technology park and the Portuguese society for friendship with Russia "Association named after Yu. A. Gagarin", as well as a group of Russian compatriots living in the country.

This landmark event, timed to coincide with the anniversary year of the first human flight into space, took place with the participation of the IBOF “Dialogue of Cultures - One World,” which provided the Portuguese authorities with a bronze bust by sculptor Alexei Leonov. Since 2011, the Foundation has been implementing a project to install busts and monuments to Yu. A. Gagarin in different countries of the world - as a symbol of international dialogue and unity for peaceful purposes.
