BUST OF YURI GAGARIN IN TUNISIA

On April 2, 2021, a solemn opening ceremony of the bust of the first cosmonaut of the Earth, Yu. A. Gagarin, took place in Tunisia. The bust was installed in the central office of the Tunisian company Telnet Holding, which previously launched the first space satellite, entirely developed and produced in this African country, using a Russian launch vehicle.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Tunisian Republic S.A. Nikolaev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia Ousmane Djerandi, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Tunisia Ulfa ben Ouda, the heads of diplomatic missions of a number of African countries, as well as the CEO of Telnet Holding Mohamed Friha.

In his speech, the Russian ambassador noted that “the memorial bust of Yuri Gagarin will become a symbol of bilateral cooperation, which is developing at full speed.”

The bronze bust of Yu. A. Gagarin, made by sculptor Alexei Leonov, was donated to the Tunisian side by the International Charitable Foundation “Dialogue of Cultures - One World” with the active assistance of the Russian Embassy in Tunisia.
