Bust of Yuri Gagarin opened in Verona

On October 22, 2016, a solemn opening ceremony of the Yuri Gagarin’s bust took place in Santa Teresa Park of Verona.

The initiator of the bust installation was the Fund “Dialogue of Cultures - United World”.

The creation of the sculptor Alexei Leonov was gifted to the Italian people by the Fund leaded by the President of the Fund Ruslan Bayramov, the member of the Council of National and Cultural Public Associations of the Council of the Federation of Russia.

The event gathered a lot of honorable guests, such as the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Milan, Alexander Nurizade, Vice-Consul Platon Ratskevich, Counselor of Embassy of Russia in Rome Vitaly Fadeyev, Assessor of the Verona City Hall Luigi Pisa, Vice-Governor of the Kaluga Region Vladimir Potemkin, President of the Association “Russian House” Marina Holodenova.

The event was held within the framework of the Fifth Eurasian Forum, where government and business leaders discuss topical economic and social issues. Vladimir Potemkin said that the initiative to install the monument contributes to the development and popularization of the Russian cultural values in Italy.

The solemn opening ceremony was widely covered by the media. The Italian newspaper L'ARENA thanked Ruslan Bayramov for the trust, support and assistance rendered by the Fund “Dialogue of Cultures-United World” during the installation of Yuri Gagarin’s bust.

The event ended with a launch of air balloons colored as the Russian flag.

The opening ceremony of the bust was another step of the project “55 years - 55 countries”, in line with the project the Fund installs the busts of Yuri Gagarin in different parts of the world as a tribute to the great deed of the legendary man.
