CELEBRAL OPENING OF MONUMENTS TO S. N. ROERICH AND D. RANI IN THE ETNOMIR

On July 28, 2021, on the territory of the cultural and educational center “ETNOMIR”, the unveiling ceremony of monuments to the great Russian artist S. N. Roerich and his wife, the famous Indian actress, “first lady of the Indian screen” D. Rani, took place in a solemn atmosphere.

The ceremony and the pre-event concert program at the Cultural Center of India in ETNOMIR were attended by representatives of federal and regional authorities, Russian and Indian public organizations, participants of the Forum of Foreign Students “Russia Made Friends of Us”, representatives of the Association of Foreign Students of Russia, management and guests of the ethnographic park.

Welcoming addresses were given by:

  • Konstantin Iosifovich Kosachev – Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation;
  • Pavel Anatolyevich Shevtsov – acting head of Rossotrudnichestvo;
  • Pavel Aleksandrovich Suslov – Minister of Culture of the Kaluga Region;
  • Stanislav Igorevich Surovtsev – MGIMO Vice-Rector for Social Work and International Relations;
  • Ruslan Fatalievich Bayramov is the president of the IBOF “Dialogue of Cultures - United World”, head of the “ETNOMIR” project.

During the event, video messages of congratulations were shown:

  • Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to India Nikolai Rishatovich Kudashev;
  • curator of the International Roerich Memorial Trust and employee of the International Center of the Roerichs Larisa Veniaminovna Surgina;
  • princesses from the royal family of Travancore Pooyam Thirunal Gouri Parvathi Bayi.

Letters of welcome were received from Anatoly Dmitrievich Artamonov, a representative from the executive power of the Kaluga region; Olga Sergeevna Yarilova – Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation; Mr. Shakti Singh Chandel – life trustee of the International Roerich Memorial Trust in India, friend of S.N. Roerich and Devika Rani; from the Moscow House of Nationalities; Society for Cultural and Business Cooperation with India; National Roerich Committee; International Center of the Roerichs.

The initiative to install memorial monuments to S. N. Roerich and D. Rani, the first in Russia dedicated to this great creative family, belongs to the International Charitable Public Foundation “Dialogue of Cultures - United World”. For 15 years now, the Foundation has been implementing projects aimed at preserving and popularizing the cultural diversity of the world and creating a sustainable dialogue between all peoples of the Earth.
