INSTALLATION OF THE BUST OF GAGARIN IN THE CAPITAL OF URUGUAY

The event was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Uruguay, Colonel R. Elge, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Uruguay, General M. Montaner, the Head of the Municipality of Montevideo A. Lescano, Senator J. Sartori, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, cultural and business circles, the press, Russian compatriots.

The bronze bust of the first cosmonaut of the Earth by sculptor Alexei Leonov was donated to the city of Montevideo by the International Charitable Foundation “Dialogue of Cultures - One World” as part of the implementation and promotion of the project for the development of friendly ties between peoples and countries. With the assistance of the Foundation, monuments and busts of Gagarin, an iconic figure for all humanity, a symbol of intercultural dialogue, are being erected all over the world. The international activities of the fund today include 50 countries. One of the main projects of the foundation is the ETNOMIR Cultural and Educational Center.

The gala event in Montevideo became a landmark event in the cultural life of the Uruguayan capital and aroused public interest.
