Monument to Yuri Gagarin opened in Croatian capital

The Croatian capital has held an opening ceremony of a  monument to the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, donated by the International Charity Public Fund "Dialogue of Cultures - United World". The ceremony took place in Stara Trešnjevka Park on October 18, 2016 and was attended among others by Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Croatia Anwar Azimov, Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandic, former presidents of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesic and Ivo Josipovic.

According to Russian Ambassador to Croatia Anwar Azimov, the installation of the bust of Yuri Gagarin will be another step towards strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between the friendly nations of Russia and Croatia. In his letter to the President of the Fund «Dialogue of Cultures – United World», the ambassador expressed his gratitude for substantial assistance of the Fund in installing the bust in Zagreb.

"The feeling of gratitude is shared by many residents of the Croatian capital, for whom Yuri Gagarin still personifies not only the victory of man over the space, but also a factor for unity, and a symbol of friendship and future," he said.
