Monument to Yuri Gagarin unveiled in Norway

<p>The opening ceremony was attended by the Charge d'Affaires of the Russian Embassy in Norway <b>Svetlana V. Ozhegova</b>, Rector of the University of Bergen <b>Dag Rune Olsen</b>, Dean of the Physics and Mathematics Faculty <b>Helzh K. Dahle</b>, Chairman of the Regional Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots from Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea <b>Tatyana V. Dale</b>. A resident of Bergen, who met Gagarin during his tour to Norway in 1964, also attended the ceremony.</p>

<p>“This year will see the 55th anniversary of Gagarin’s flight. Not only did he open the door into outer space for humanity. His feat also united people around the globe,” said Svetlana Ozhegova in her speech.</p>

<p>“Gagarin is a person of the world and everyone knows him,” said Helzh Dahle, adding that Norwegians agreed to accept the bust with great enthusiasm.</p>

<p>The Fund representative told the ceremony guests about the Fund’s initiative: 55 years after the first flight of Gagarin into space and his tour around the world, Yuri Gagarin has once again set out on a journey around the planet with a mission of promoting friendship and cooperation.</p>

<p>The Fund wishes to express its gratitude to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Norway, the University of Bergen, the Regional Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots from Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea for their generous support in realizing the project.</p>
