OPENING OF THE BUST OF YURI GAGARIN IN THE CITY OF NETANYA, ISRAEL

On March 28, 2019, a solemn opening ceremony of the bust of Yuri Gagarin took place at the cultural and scientific center Planetania in the city of Netanya (Israel), dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the birth of the first cosmonaut of the Earth.

The bust was donated to the people of Israel by the Dialogue of Cultures - One World Foundation with the assistance of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the State of Israel, the Netanya City Hall, in cooperation with the Netanya Foundation and the Netanya Tourism Association.

The author of the bronze bust is Alexey Leonov, a young and talented sculptor, whose works, with the support of the Dialogue of Cultures - United World Foundation, have appeared in many countries around the world.

The solemn opening ceremony of the bust of Yuri Gagarin was attended by:

  • Mayor of Netanya Mrs. Miriam Feyerberg-Ikar,
  • Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Israel A. D. Viktorov,
  • 1st Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Israel I. A. Martynov,
  • Deputy General Director for International Cooperation of the Roscosmos State Corporation S. V. Savelyev,
  • Russian pilot-cosmonaut A. M. Samokutyaev,
  • Ambassadors of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan,
  • Head of the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv D. S. Parkhomchuk,
  • Head of the Israeli space agency Avi Blasberger and other honored guests.

During the event, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Israel A.D. Viktorov presented the Mayor of Netanya, Mrs. M. Faierberg-Ikar, with a welcome letter from the Governor of the Kaluga Region A.D. Artamonov. A letter of welcome from the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation O. S. Yarilova was solemnly presented to the mayor of Netanya by the 1st Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Israel I. A. Martynov. Also, the participants of the ceremony were given a welcoming letter from the President of the “Dialogue of Cultures - United World” Foundation R.F. Bayramov. The event ended with a festive lunch.
