Yuri Gagarin’s bust to be installed in Belgrade

The representation of the Kaluga region government in Moscow held the meeting of Serbian and Russian diplomats and public figures on March 24, 2017. The meeting addressed key issues of international cooperation and featured the donation of the bronze bust of Y. Gagarin to the Serbian people by the Fund «Dialogue of Cultures-United World». The project of the bust installation in Belgrade is realized with the assistance of the Vladimir the Bold Fund and the administration of the Kaluga region.

The official meeting attracted many honorable guests, including the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia in the Russian Federation Slavenko Terzich, the deputy of the State Duma Gennady Sklyar and many others.

The round table discussion explored among others such issues as the perspectives of the Russian-Serbian and Kaluga-Serbian relations, joint projects in agriculture and education, possibilities of establishing a tourist communication between the airport of Kaluga and Serbian airports, and the initiative for establishing a federal memorable date for the triumphant termination of the Great Stand on the Ugra River (1480).

According to Mr. Terzich, the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia in the Russian Federation: «One of the most important steps to strengthen relations between the countries will be to install the bust of the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in Belgrade».

The monument to the first conqueror of the space will decorate the longest street of the Serbian capital, named after him. In a solemn ceremony, the bust has been donated to the Serbian people on behalf of the administration of the Kaluga region, the Cultural and Educational Tourist Center "ETNOMIR" and the International Charity Public Fund "Dialogue of Cultures - United World".
