The Bust of Yuri Gagarin

In 2017, the Fund intends to install the busts of Y. Gagarin in a number of educational institutions, parks and streets of the various world cities. The first project of installation of the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin’s bronze busts was implemented in 2011. The «Dialogue of Cultures - United World» Fund presented over 30 busts to 23 countries over the past 6 years.

Yury Gagarin (1934-1968) is the Soviet space pilot, the Hero of the Soviet Union, the commander of the highest distinctions of ranks of the State, the honorable citizen of many Russian and foreign cities. On April 12 , 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first person in the world history, who made a journey into outer space in his rocket «Vostok», which was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome. Gagarin successfully landed in the Saratov region, near the city of Engels after 108 minutes of staying in space. So, the era of «human in space» has begun. Since 1962, the 12th of April marks the anniversary of the first manned flight into outer space -
the Cosmonautics Day. In 2011, at the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly the holiday was given the international status.

April 2, 2017 - Colorado Springs, the USA, Space Foundation. On the eve of the 33rd Space Symposium, Yuri Gagarin's bust was installed in the Space Museum of the U.S. Colorado Springs. The ceremony took place at the solemn evening coincided with the 56th anniversary of the Gagarin’s historical flight into the space. The opening ceremony was visited by the General Consul of the Russian Federation - S.V. Petrov, the representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in Washington- O. S. Zhiganov, the CEO of the ROSCOSMOS corporation - I.A. Komarov, the Director of the Museum of space - T. Schencks and other honorable guests.

October 22, 2016 - Verona, Italy, Santa Theresa Park. Yuri Gagarin's bust was solemnly opened in the Verona city (Italy). The honorable guests of the ceremony were the General Consul of the Russian Federation in Milan - A. B. Nurizada, the Vice Consul of the Russian Federation in Milan - P. N. Ratskevich, the Adviser of Russian Embassy in Rome - V. V. Fadeyev, the Assessor of the Verona city administration - Luidgi Piza, the Vice Governor of the Kaluga region - V. V. Potyomkin, the President of «Russian House» association - Marina Holodenova, the representatives of the associations of the Russian culture from Sicily, Bergamo, Bologna, the representatives of the public organizations and the club of Verona aeronautics.

October 18, 2016, Zagreb, Croatia, Trešnjevka Stara Park. Yuri Gagarin's bust was solemnly opened in Zagreb (Croatia). The honorable guests of the ceremony were the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Croatia - A.S. Azimov, the Mayor of Zagreb - Milan Bandich, the former Presidents of the Republic of Croatia - Stjepan Mesić and Ivo Josipović, the Chairman of Coordination Council of the Russian compatriots in Croatia E. October 10, 2016, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Negara Planetarium. Yuri Gagarin's bust was solemnly presented by the International Charity Public Fund «Dialogue of Cultures - United World» to the State Planetarium of Malaysia. The opening ceremony of Yuri Gagarin’s bronze bust was held with assistance of the TEZ TOUR Greece Company, attracting a number of honorable guests such as the Mayor of Heraklion - V. Lambrinos, the Vice Governor of Heraklion - K. Evripidis, the Representative of the Russian Embassy - A. Homenko, the CEO of «TEZ TOUR Greece» Company - D. Haritidis, the Russian cosmonauts O. I. September 26, 2016, Dalian, China, the Russian town. «Dialogue of Cultures - United World» Fund donated Yuri Gagarin's bust to the Chinese citizens. The monument was installed in the city of Dalian (China) in the territory of the modern residential district «Russian Town». The event took place with assistance of the General Consulate of the Russian Federation in Shenyang with the presence of the General Consul of the Russian Federation Sergey Paltov.

September 14, 2016, Bergen, Norway, the Bergen University. The guests of the opening ceremony were the Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Russian Federation at Norway - S. V. Ozhegova, the Rector of the Bergen University - D. R. Olsen, the Dean of the physical and mathematical faculty - H. K. April 12, 2016, the citizens of Pordenone celebrated the 55th Anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight into space. The citizens of the Italian city organized a festive ceremony, which took place in the territory of Kennedy Technical Institute, where, in 2015, the International Charity Public Fund «Dialogue of Cultures - United World» installed a bronze bust of Y. Gagarin. The teachers and pupils from the local higher education Institutions and lyceums visited the official ceremony. The festive program was closed with a dancing flash mob and a solemn air start of balloons.

According to Elena Tukshumskaya’s opinion - the President of Italy-Russia international cooperation Center, the bust will be included into the list of tourist sights of Pordenone as the first monument to the Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin erected in Italy.

The honorable guests of the opening ceremony of the second bust of Yuri Gagarin in Germany were the first German astronaut - Sigmund Jähn, the representative of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Germany, the Serbian actor Gojko Mitić, the representatives of science, culture and the public, the leadership of the International Charity Public Fund «Dialogue of Cultures - United World», the management of the Cultural and educational Center «FEZ-Berlin» as well as native citizens.

June 10, 2015, Venezuela, Caracas. The Fund donated a bust to the capital and the residents of Venezuela. The project was realized with the assistance of the Bering-Bellingshausen Institute for the Americas. The solemn ceremony of bust donation coincided with the 70th anniversary of restoring diplomatic relationship between Russian Federation and the countries of Latin America. The ceremony was attended by such guests as the President of Bering-Bellingshausen Institute for the Americas - Sergey Brilyov, the Russian Ambassador in Venezuela - Vladimir Zayemsky, the Minister of Defense of Venezuela - Padrino Lopez, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela - Alejandro Fleming, and also the heads of diplomatic representations, the representatives of public organizations and the residents of Caracas.

The opening ceremony attracted the senior representatives of the government of El Salvador, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras - Nikolay Vladimir, the representative of the Fund - Igor Novosyolov. Hugo Martinez, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, gave a speech during the opening ceremony, emphasizing: «… the evolution of cooperation between El Salvador and Russian Federation over the last yeas such as the extension of commercial and economic relationship».

The installed bust of Yuri Gagarin became the first monument to the Soviet cosmonaut in the Central America.

It was symbolical that the opening ceremony was held on the Cosmonautics Day, traditionally celebrated in Russia as well as coincided with the year of the 80th anniversary since the birth of Yuri Gagarin. The guests of the ceremony were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation - A. I. Denisov, the Chinese astronaut - Jing Haipeng, the representatives of many public organizations of China, the representatives of the Russian and Chinese mass media.

February 17, 2012, India, Calcutta city. The bust was installed with assistance of the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Calcutta - V. V. Lazarev. The special guests of the opening ceremony were the Consul General of the Russian Federation, the vice Governor of the Kaluga region - Nikolay Lubimov, the President of the of the International Charity Public Fund «Dialogue of Cultures - United World» - Ruslan Bayramov and the President of the Charity Fund «Sofia» - Olga Glukhova. Vyacheslav Nikonov as the Executive Director of the Russkiy Mir Foundation gave a welcoming letter for the event.

The Fund together with the Tsiolkovsky International Fund of Trustees of Moscow State Air Technological University with the assistance of the Consulate General as well as the personal attendance of the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Mumbai - A. A. Novikov held the solemn opening ceremony of Yuri Gagarin’s bust in Mumbai. The honorable guests of the ceremony were the Mayor of the Mumbai city - Sh. Dzhadkhav, the Russian Ambassador - A. M. Kadakin and the General Consul - A. A. Novikov. The ceremony also attracted the notable scientists, political and public persons, and the representatives of cultural elite, teachers of the Indian higher education institutions, pupils and students.

The special event took place at the initiative of the Russian Cultural Center in Trivandrum city with the assistance of the Russian Consul General in Chennai - N. A. Listopadov. November 3, 2011, Hungary, Dulakhaza village. The Fund installed the bust together with the International Fund of Trustees of the Tsiolkovsky Moscow State Air Technological University with the assistance of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Hungary. The solemn ceremony gathered many special guests including the representatives of the Russian Embassy in Hungary and Russian General Consulate in Debrecen city, the representatives of the central and regional authorities, the activists of the public organizations and local citizens. The honorable guests of the ceremony were the Russian cosmonauts, including twice Heroes of the Soviet Union - Valery Kubasov and Victor Gorbatko, and also the Hungarian space pilot - Bertalan Farkash.

October 19, 2011, the USA, Chicago, Adler Planetarium. The International Fund of Trustees of the Tsiolkovsky Moscow State Air Technological University took part in the project. The opening ceremony attracted the President of the Twin Town Association - S. Scott, the Director of the Planetarium - P. Knappenberger and the employees of the Museum, as well as the Professor of the Iowa University - J. Andrews, the Chairman of the United Nations Committee on the peaceful use of space, the President of the Space Flights participants Association, the first Romanian astronaut - D. Prinariu.

The Fund and the International Fund of Trustees of the Tsiolkovsky Moscow State Air Technological University with the assistance of the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria installed the bronze bust of Yuri Gagarin in Varna, the Bulgarian city. The honorable guests were the cosmonaut Y. Romanenko and the space pilot A. Alexandrov.

The solemn opening ceremony gathered the European astronauts, the Chief of the European Astronauts’ Center - M. Zakharov and the representative of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Bern - A. Basov.

September 16, 2011, France, Strasbourg, the International Space Institute. The Fund and the International Fund of Trustees of the Tsiolkovsky Moscow State Air Technological University with the assistance of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in France and the Consulate General of the Russian Federation installed the bronze bust of Yuri Gagarin in the University in Strasbourg. The guests of the ceremony were the first Czech astronaut - Vladimir Remek, the Romanian astronaut - D. Prinariu, and the Administration of the Institute and students.

September 21, 2011, France, Le Bourget city. The bust was installed in the territory of the world’s largest Aerospace Salon in Le Bourget, Paris suburb. The ceremony was attended by the then Prime Minister of the Russian Federation V. Putin. Standing near the bust, the Prime Minister handed the Russian medals to the French astronauts «For the achievements in outer space exploration» noting that Yuri Gagarin «became a symbol of human progress all over the world».
